Abstract
Pre-incisional injection of cephamandole has been studied. Wound tissue levels of cephamandole have been found to be extremely high throughout the operation. Serum levels were comparable to those obtained with parenterally administered antibiotic. The use of a pre-incisional injection of antibiotic therefore offers major theoretical advantages over the use of either conventional parenteral or topical antibiotics in the prevention of postoperative sepsis. Keywords
