Abstract
A review of 138 patients who have been personally operated upon, and in whom the follow‐up is complete, has been undertaken. The problems of diagnosis and treatment are discussed, and the various complications considered. The frequency and severity of facial nerve injury, particularly in the management of recurrent or malignant tumours, is discussed, and the high frequency of postoperative gustatory sweating pointed out. The indications for radiotherapy, the possibility of postoperative salivary fistula or tumour recurrence and the association of tumour with other diseases of the gland are mentioned.
