Abstract
An adult was admitted on 2 separate occasions with mild hypertension and a venous congestive state. On both occasions, renal biopsies were indicative of a mild proliferative glomerulonephritis. During neither admission did the urinalysis manifest significant proteinuria nor any gross abnormalities of the urine sediment. Although far from proven, it is suggested that the case represents a post-streptococcal acute glomerulonephritis with relapse. Of paramount importance is that a venous congestive state without apparent etiology may be the result of glomerulonephritis despite the absence of abnormal urinary findings. A renal biopsy should be diagnostically helpful under such circumstances. Keywords
