Abstract
The density profiles of asymmetric binary mixtures of hard spheres are calculated within the local density approximation. The density profiles of the larger spheres are shown to be highly localized, within a narrow strip at intermediate altitudes, under a broad range of physical conditions. The localization results from a subtle competition between entropy and gravity. Keywords
