Abstract
Acute cerebral vascular disorders are reported in 3 men and 3 women below the age of 50. There was hemiparesis in 3 cases, impaired consciousness in 4, spontaneous subarachnoid hemorrhage in 4. Despite clinical neurologic and arteriographic, spinal fluid, pneumographic, electroencephalographic and post-mortem studies the pathogenesis of the disorders remained unknown. On the other hand, in each case there were both severe antecedent psychic stress and (after the stroke) increased cerebral arterial contractility. This arterial spasm affected primarily the subarachnoid course of the internal carotid artery. Some features of character were common to the 3 men and others to the 3 women. Keywords
