Abstract
The advantages of antiferroelectric liquid crystals(AFLCs) in application are clearly shown by comparing the hysteresis loops of AFLC and FLC(ferroelectric liquid crystal) derived theoretically. The competition between the antiferroelectric and ferroelectric interactions is observed by means of dielectric measurements. The origin of the antiferroelectricity is briefly discussed. Keywords
