Abstract
This paper investigates enhanced distributed coordination function (EDCF) differentiation functionality and effectiveness in the emerging standard IEEE 802.11e via numerical and simulation results. An analytical model is proposed to derive saturation throughputs, saturation delays, and frame dropping probabilities for EDCF differentiation services. Effects of different parameters on the EDCF differentiation mechanism are obtained to provide some insights on the protocol. Keywords
