Abstract
Pseudowintera is an endemic New Zealand genus of three species in the primitively vessel-less angiosperm family Winteraceae. A putative hybrid between P. colorata and P. traversii was found in a region where those species are sympatnc. An Analysis of vegetative and floral characters of this plant and comparison of these characters wtth those in P. colorata and P. traversii support the conclusion that it was an F1 hybnd. Reports of natural hybridism between the two common spectes, P. axilaris and P. colorata, are considered to be unconfirmed. Keywords
