Abstract
It is shown that an optically excited current in polyethylene does not interact with the dark absorption current. This implies that the carriers are different for the two processes. We suggest that holes are photo‐injected and traverse the full thickness of the specimen, while the absorption currents are due to surface barrier processes, as proposed by other workers. Keywords
