Abstract
The "direct" inhibition of sacral motoneurones by volleys in the contralateral low-threshold afferent fibers was investigated by the technique of intracellular recording. Accurate timing of the arrival of an afferent volley and the setting up of either excitatory or inhibitory postsynaptic potentials reveals that there is an extra synaptic delay on the inhibitory pathway. Some motoneurones are excited monosynaptically by impulses in both ipsilateral and contralateral low threshold afferent fibers. Records were obtained from interneurones having requisite properties for the inhibitory pathway. Keywords
