Abstract
Purified cytochrome a prepared by using Emasol 4130 contains 1 atom each of Cu and Fe per mole. The enzymic activity is strongly inhibited by ferrocyanide, salicylaldoxime or ethylxanthate. Cu in the cytochrome a preparation is easily split by acid treatment but not by dialysis against Cu-chelating agent solution. The determination of Cu+ by the biquinolyl method and p-chloromercuri-benzoate inhibition indicate that the oxidized and reduced forms of cytochrome a largely bear Cu2+ and Cu+.This publication has 6 references indexed in Scilit:
