Abstract
We describe the morphology of the chain (ch) and temp-morp (tm) mutant colonies and sporidia. The centromere-linkage values are 16.3 cM for ch and 8.9 cM for tm. Tetrad analysis indicates linkage (24.5 cM) for the tm and cf (cauliflower) morphology mutations, and both loci are in the same arm. Two modifier mutations (m2ph and m3ph) of the pseudohyphal (ph) morphology mutations were linked with the ph mutation and presumably are mutations at the one locus. Tetrad analysis for tm and cf and for mph and ph gave an unexpectedly high frequency of nonparental ditype tetrads. This observation is explained by negative interference. To account for the relative frequencies of nonparental and tetratype tetrads from these crosses, chromatid interference is proposed. Keywords
