Abstract
Ionization‐efficiency curves and appearance potentials have been obtained for the positive and negative ions produced by electron‐impact ionization of the vapor molecules APbCl3, PbCl2, and ACl where A = Na, K, Rb, or Cs. From the results the ionization processes, ionization potentials, electron affinities, and bond energies for some of the resulting molecules and radicals have been deduced. The concept of electronegativity has been extended to molecules to provide an understanding of the formation of APbCl3 from ACl and PbCl2 in the gas phase. Keywords
