Effects of Acid Vapor, Basic Vapor and Heat Treatments on the Properties of Langmuir-Blodgett Films of Divalent Metal Salts of Fatty Acids

Abstract
When LB films are exposed to the atmosphere vaporized from acid at room temperature, the X-ray diffraction peaks attributed to the lamellar structure disappear and new peaks appear depending on the metal ion species of the salt, whereas such noticeable change is not observed by basic vapor treatment and heat treatment. Diffraction patterns for LB films of free fatty acids are not influenced by these three treatments.Keywords
