Abstract
Rose hips were collected from 9 sites in Otago and Canterbury during winter 1987. Following emergence of adult wasps (sex ratio, 987 females: 5 males) from these hips in the laboratory, hips and achenes were examined. Infestation of achenes ranged from 1.5 to 12.4% between the sites. The overall mean was 7.7%. This is high compared with infestation rates recorded in Europe. Keywords
