Abstract
The phase transition temperature from the smectic-A to chiral smectic-C (ferroelectric) phases in DOBAMBC decreases significantly with mixing of organic materials (PAA and eicosane) but increases with applied pressure (<400 bar). The dielectric constant in the ferroelectric chiral smectic-C phase decreases with increasing concentration of organic materials but does not depend strongly on applied pressure in the range studied. These results are explained in terms of the intermolecular interaction of DOBAMBC molecules. Keywords
