Abstract
Presentation of Case First admission. A sixty-four-year-old woman was admitted to the hospital because of dyspnea.Eight months before entry she was admitted to another hospital because of fatigue and weakness. The skin was gray. The urinary sediment contained protein, red cells and white cells. The hemoglobin was 8.5 gm; the urea nitrogen was 78 mg, the calcium 9.3 mg, the phosphorus 4.9 mg, and the uric acid 6.2 mg per 100 ml. Culture of the urine grew out alpha-hemolytic streptococci.
