Abstract
This paper describes measurements of the attenuation length, energy spectrum and distribution of heights of origin of the mu-meson component of air showers containing about 10−7 particles. All measurements are compared with the results of other investigators and with the prediction of various shower theories. The energy spectrum obtained for mu-mesons deviates strongly from spectra obtained by other investigators. The distribution of heights of origin is incompatible with existing shower theories. Keywords
