Abstract
In human subjects local topical anesthetic agents were introduced directly into the stomach or duodenum. Gastric and/or duodenal motility were recorded oscillographically. Drugs used were nupercaine, pontocaine, and probutylin. Gastric and duodenal motility were unchanged in 6 patients. In 3 cases there were minor, but seemingly inconstant, changes in gastroduodenal motility. Keywords
