Abstract
The true glucose content of 8 rat tissues was measured. Glucose was separated by paper chromatography and determined by the method of Nelson. The total reducing value was also determined. When rats were killed by immersion in liquid oxygen, all the tissues except liver contained less glucose than did plasma, the value for brain and testis being only about 1/10, and for muscle and spleen about 1/4, of the value for plasma. The effects of delays in freezing the tissue after death were measured.
