Abstract
The configurational free energy change ΔA2/kT associated with the introduction of pairs of vacancy defects into a two‐dimensional triangular lattice with nearest neighbor interactions is calculated by lattice dynamics in the classical high temperature limit. It is found that second and third nearest neighbor vacancies yield the greatest decrease in the free energy.Keywords
