Abstract
A new 8-spored sp. N. dodgei Nelson et Novak, is described. Isolates of the new taxon were obtained from soil collected in the Luquillo Mountains of Puerto Rico. N. dodgei closely resembles N. crassa in perithecial dimensions, as well as in the size, shape, and germ-pore pattern of its ascospores. However, unlike N. crassa, it is homothallic and appears to lack a conidial stage. Moreover, in N. dodgei the ascospore ribs are fewer in number but coarser and tend to anastomose more extensively than in N. crassa. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
