Abstract
The structure of explosively shocked magnesium oxide was studied by x-ray line broadening methods. Broadening was found to be caused primarily by a particle size of the order of 200 Å. These results suggest that the shocked structure has a dislocation density near 1012/cm2 with dislocations arranged in configurations of low lattice strain. Keywords
