Abstract
A general methodology for development and operation of computer-aided facility planning (CAFP) tools is described including preparation, specification, analysis. and results phases with major features of a general data base and a common analysis model which has a structure for individualized extensions. Advantages of this methodology include user oriented application, efficient data handling, and effective overall design which lead to higher designer productivity and better facility planning. The methodology is illustrated with INDECS, a CAFP tool for conveyorized facilities. Keywords
