Abstract
To the Editor: We agree with the statement of Andreoli et al. (April 26 issue) that gastrointestinal absorption of aluminum can lead to aluminum intoxication.1 However, there are shortcomings in the way they reach that conclusion. They combine the results in a group of four infants aged 9 to 29 months who received more than 100 mg of elemental aluminum per kilogram of body weight per day with the results in eight children with a mean age of 14 years who received less aluminum.
