Abstract
A species of marine coccoid cyanobacteria isolated from Great South Bay, Long Island, New York [USA], is surrounded by abundant appendages attached to the cell wall. The appendages were examined by EM and appear to be rigid tubes similar, but not identical to, bacterial spinae. The presence of spinae is a novel feature of cyanobacteria and may prove to be taxonomically distinctive. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
