Abstract
The B.A. Business Studies Degree at the Middlesex Polytechnic introduced in 1974–75 the idea of continuous assessment (20%) in conjunction with the examination (80%) as a method of assessing the student performance. The analysis of the marks of continuous assessment and examinations for different subjects of the Degree is carried out over a period of four years 1974–75 to 1978–79. The results show that there is a significant positive correlation between continuous assessment and examination marks in all subjects and continuous assessment helps in improving the student grades. Students are more concerned about their grades than using continuous assessment as learning experience. The average performance of students is generally lower at level II than at level I.Keywords
