Abstract
Parametric differential equations are derived which allow one to study the pre-Higgs and Higgs limits of the explicitly broken pre-Higgs model, as well as its short-distance behavior and gauge dependence. It is shown that all physical scattering amplitudes in the pre-Higgs and Higgs models can be expressed in terms of the Green functions of the conserved current. A gauge-invariant composite field is defined which serves as interpolating field for the heavy spin-one particles in the Higgs model. Reduction formulas are obtained which make transparent the principal features of the Higgs phenomenon. Keywords
