Abstract
Findings of previous authors are confirmed that growth of tubercle bacilli is readily inhibited in media containing small amts. of streptomycin. "Tween 80" media were found most satisfactory. All mycobacteria tested developed resistance to the effects of streptomycin rapidly when exposed to small doses, eventually becoming resistant to as much as 1000 X the original inhibitory amt. of streptomycin. This resistance is independent of guinea-pig virulence or resistance to sulfones, and persists for several mos. Keywords
