Expectancy Theory as a Predictor of Work Motivation, Effort Expenditure, and Job Performance

Abstract
The predictive power of expectancy theory with respect to work motivation, effort expenditure, and job performance is tested in four homogeneous samples. The base of behavioral alternatives is expanded to include both approach and avoidance acts. The findings do not support the classical expectancy model or its components.Keywords
