Abstract
It is shown that a theory developed by Kaplan and Gray (ibid., vol.9, p.L483 (1976)) for elementary excitations in disordered systems with short-range order does not agree with the exact numerical calculations for a one-dimensional binary A-B alloy; in particular it fails to predict the fine structure in the electronic density of states. Keywords
