Abstract
The Antoine vapor pressure equation logp = A − B / (t+C) is theoretically derived from van der Waals equation and the energy of an assembly of Einstein oscillators. The values of the Antoine parameter C are shown to be related to the characteristic frequency of the liquid. The values of this parameter obtained from vapor pressure data are shown to agree with those calculated from viscosity and from the velocity of propagation of sound. Keywords
