Intercapillary Glomerulosclerosis

Abstract
Relation to Hypertension and ArteriolosclerosisA close relation between intercapillary glomerulosclerosis and arteriolosclerosis of the kidney has been obvious to all observers.4,6,7,8 The two lesions roughly parallel each other, but a sufficient number of exceptions exist to justify the statement that the relation is likely to be coincidental. Although arteriolosclerosis cannot be excluded as a contributing factor in bringing about intercapillary glomerulosclerosis, it cannot be regarded as the sole cause. In the age group in which most cases of intercapillary glomerulosclerosis occur, a large percentage of patients reveal marked arteriolosclerosis of kidneys with or without the glomerular lesions.
