Pion-pair contribution to the decayKLπ0γγ

Abstract
A simple prediction for the decay KLπ0γγ, obtained from the rescattering to two photons of the π+π intermediate state in the process KLπ+ππ0, is compared with a recent calculation based on chiral perturbation theory. The π+π rescattering model predicts a two-photon effective mass spectrum peaked at slightly higher mγγ than in chiral perturbation theory, and a branching ratio B(KLπ0γγ)7.5×107. Implications are discussed for the corresponding decay of the charged kaon.
