Abstract
Acute myocardial infarction (AMI) is followed by enhanced spontaneous mobilization of bone marrow–derived stem cells.1-3 The extent and duration of this mobilization have been reported to correlate with improvement of left ventricular function.1,4 These findings support the hypothesis that enhancing mobilization of endogenous stem cells may have favorable effects on left ventricular recovery after an AMI.
