Abstract
The blood vol. in 25 patients with hyperthyroidism and in 5 patients with myxedema was studied by the author''s method. In general the total blood vol. was above normal in hyperthyroidism and below normal in myxedema. The degree of deviation from normal bore a direct relationship to the degree of elevation or depression of the basal metabolic rate, Following treatment with I or after subtotal thyroidectomy total blood vol. was substantially reduced in all the cases of hyperthyroidism and the degree of reduction in total circulating red cell vol. from the pre-operative level was in direct relationship to the degree of fall in basal metabolic rate. This publication has 8 references indexed in Scilit:
