Abstract
Intracellular localization of 67Ga was investigated in rat Morris hepatoma 7316A and mouse Shionogi mammary carcinoma 115 cells by the cell fractionation method 48 h after i.p. injection of the nuclide. When lysosomes were purified from both tumors by discontinuous sucrose density gradient centrifugation, they had a strikingly high relative specific activity of the nuclide. 67Ga is concentrated most specifically in the lysosomes of both tumor cells, which consist of phagolysosomes and can engulf a limited amount of foreign materials such as Triton and 67Ga. The tumors can then be delineated by scintiscanning.
