Abstract
By means of a double isotope derivative technique, specific determination of cortisol is obtainable. The present study revealed that the previously demonstrated curve of the 17-hydroxycorticosteroid increase in pregnancy is due to cortisol. It was demonstrated, moreover, that following intrauterine death the maternal cortisol values are low (6 patients). A theory is advanced to explain these results. Keywords
