Abstract
We study the electrodeposition of zinc from zinc sulfate solutions in thin-layer cells. We report experimental demonstrations of the origin of the morphological transitions which have been shown in the literature to occur during the growth process. We discuss the type of migrating impurities which provoke such transitions and we check their actual implication in real experiments. We interpret their strong influence on both the microscopic and macroscopic textures of the deposit by a drastic modification of the interfacial reduction process. Keywords
