Abstract
In order to determine the effect of various tissues on the activity of progesterone, pellets of this compound were implanted in the mesentery (drainage to the liver), in the kidney, in the muscle and under the skin of adult, isolated [female][female] rabbits. The liver proved to be the chief site of inactivation of the hormone. The kidney also metabolized the compound, but to a much less degree. The pellets under the skin and in the muscle produced marked endometrial proliferation of approx. equal amt. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
