Abstract
A multispiral pregrooved disk has been fabricated by the beam scanning method. In this method, a recording laser beam is scanned by a galvanomirror to trace the multispiral subcircle while the disk continuously moves. It is demonstrated that a 1.6-micron-spacing 6-fold spiral pregroove is recordable by this method. This method achieves a precise track pitch with less than 0.04-micron deviation. Stable tracking operation on the multispiral pregroove and multibeam recording on the 3-fold spiral pregroove were performed. Keywords
