Abstract
Rat blood lipase activity, as detd. by titration of acid freed from tributyrin in 30 min. at 37[degree]C by 0.1 ml. of serum, shows a decrease between the 1st and 3d day after induction of hyperglycemia by injn. of 16 mg. of alloxan monohydrate/100 g. of body wt. in 15 adult male rats. Subsequently the serum lipase activity increases to as much as 65% above normal. The initial lipase decrease may be associated with the temporary lipemia characteristic of the initial stages of alloxan diabetes. Keywords
