Abstract
Radiation from I131 was used for estimating preoperatively the relative function of thyroid nodules. The accuracy of the method was measured by radio-autographs made from the tissue removed at operation. Results of observations on 41 cases of nodular goiter were analyzed. This method is of value in raising the suspicion of carcinoma; in the diagnosis of hyperfunctioning nodules with or without thyrotoxicosis; and in distinguishing between the diffuse hyper-functioning gland of Graves'' disease with an incidental non-functioning nodule, and a hyperfunctioning nodule with thyrotoxicosis. Keywords
