Abstract
Children in the Lala district of Northern Rhodesia are generally anemic. Hookworm infection, urinary schistosomiasis; and low ascorbic acid intake may be the primary causes of such anemia especially among younger children. The low hemoglobin index may help explain the seemingly very low immunity such young children show to attacks of malaria, both as to frequency and as to severity of such attacks. Keywords
