Benign Mucous-Membrane Pemphigus

Abstract
IN the consideration of vesiculating and bullous eruptions of the oral mucosa, insufficient attention has been given to benign mucous-membrane pemphigus as a distinct clinical entity. Also, in many recent publications dealing with the oral manifestations of pemphigus, no differentiation is made between pemphigus vulgaris and benign mucous-membrane pemphigus. Lever1 2 3 4 5 6 has in recent years contributed significantly to an understanding of the nature of the condition and has done much to emphasize the importance of proper diagnosis. He does not consider it a form of true pemphigus, since it does not present the characteristic microscopical picture of the more common forms. . . .
