Abstract
SUMMARY: Under adverse conditions, Mycobacterium tuberculosis may autolyse, or surviving cells may divide into progressively shorter cells which may even appear to be coccal. We have not observed a complex ‘life cycle’, but the cells whose cytoplasm has been reduced show qualitative differences which we term ‘regression’.Keywords
