Bronchitis, Pneumonitis and Pneumonia in University of Wisconsin Students

Abstract
THE cause of acute infections of the lower respiratory tract has been a matter of considerable speculation, especially of that group called primary atypical pneumonia or viral pneumonia. The present report is concerned with 224 University of Wisconsin students admitted to the infirmary from 1953 through 1960 with evidence of bronchitis, pneumonitis or pneumonia. Detailed etiologic and clinical data are presented on 119 of this group who were intensively studied.
