Abstract
A homogeneous orthorhombic shear strain deformation path is proposed for the wurtzite to rocksalt high-pressure transformation. Its energetics are calculated from first-principles for GaN. Previous experimental and theoretical studies of the transition pressure are discussed. Keywords
