Systemic Blastomycosis in Childhood

Abstract
In a 21-month-old infant with systemic blastomycosis blood and bone marrow specimens were found reliable sources for culture, whereas sputum cultures were negative. A clinical cure followed hydroxystilbamidine therapy. Family members and neighbors tested for serum precipitins had no evidence of infection, past or present. The true prevalence of blastomycosis in the pediatric population of the United States is not known.
