Adrenalectomy and HypophysectomyAcceptability of Surgical Palliation – Overall Success RateAlthough the fractional incidence of palliative success appears to be about the same for hormone therapy and an unselected series of adrenalectomies or hypophysectomies, it has been a virtually universal experience, and certainly that of our group, that the operations provide a longer and more complete respite from the disease in the patients who do respond favorably.Even though the response to palliative treatment can be graded according to objective remissions, these criteria are not the only ones that affect the value judgments of patient and doctor.
